CCS Disability Action provides personalised disability support in Northland, working alongside disabled people and their whānau to remove barriers, access opportunities and live the lives they choose.

The Northern Region covers Northland and Auckland. Its work is guided by the belief:

How CCS Disability Action can help

CCS Disability Action works in partnership with disabled people and their families and whānau. Support is based on each person’s goals, circumstances and aspirations.

The team can help people access opportunities that others might reasonably expect in life, including:

Learning and education
Developing friendships and relationships
Having choices about where and how they live
Finding meaningful employment
Participating in recreation and leisure
Taking part in the community
Connecting with culture and spirituality in personally meaningful ways

Advocacy and community participation

CCS Disability Action advocates for accessible, inclusive communities where disabled people can participate fully.

This may include advocating for children to attend their local school or another school of their choice, helping people overcome accessibility barriers and supporting individuals and whānau to access appropriate resources.

Transition from school

Leaving school can bring important decisions about further education, employment, community participation and adult support services.

CCS Disability Action can help disabled young people and their whānau explore their options and make choices based on the young person’s goals and interests.

Employment support

CCS Disability Action supports disabled people to explore and pursue meaningful paid employment.

The team can help identify suitable opportunities, address barriers to employment and connect people with the resources and support they need to participate in the workforce.

Independent living support

CCS Disability Action supports disabled people to live as independently as possible in a suitable home and with the right assistance.

This includes working alongside individuals and their whānau to identify housing goals, explore available choices and connect with relevant support.

Child respite services

Child respite services provide disabled children with safe and supportive care while giving parents, caregivers and whānau time to rest or attend to other responsibilities.

Mobility Parking Permits

CCS Disability Action administers and issues Mobility Parking Permits for eligible people with limited mobility.

A Mobility Parking Permit can make it easier to access shops, healthcare services, workplaces and community facilities by allowing permit holders to use designated mobility parking spaces.
