What is Sustaining Tenancies Service? Sustaining Tenancies service is FREE and CONFIDENTIAL SERVICE which assists vulnerable whānau who are at risk of eviction or exiting their tenancy under duress.
Our goal
To walk alongside whānau helping to develop skills and knowledge to independently manage their tenancy.
How do we support?
We provide practical support to help whānau sustain their tenancy and avoid losing their home. This support can include services like budgeting advice and advocacy with landlords.
Who can use the service?
This service is available to all whānau in private and public housing within the Whangārei and Bay of Islands regions.
Some of the services we offer include (but not limited to)
¨ Provide tenancy support including property upkeep
¨ Address tenancy issues with whānau and the landlord. This can include hoarding, anti-social behaviour, or any other issues affecting tenancy
¨ Support to access relevant internal and external facilities such as cleaning services
¨ Help whānau navigate to community-based programmes
¨ Assist whānau to rebuild connections and support networks in the community

You can refer yourself or we can receive referrals from other services and community organisations.
