Wow! What a cave, man.

“Deaf American blogger Calvin Young is hoping his daredevil experiences in NZ will help inspire other deaf people to fulfill their dreams.”

When deaf American blogger Calvin Young booked his month long trip to New Zealand he thought there would be more things to do in Australia.

In an article recently published in the New Zealand Herald 'Wow! What a cave, man' he said “I was completely wrong.”

The 26-year-old was in New Zealand for a month as part of a world-wide trip, going from adventure to adventure and blogging about it.  He headed to Waitomo to tick off his “bucket list” activities: black water rafting and glow worms.  He rated the Waitomo caves as one of his “favourite adventures in the world”.

“I was beyond impressed with everything I did in the cave … It's like taking me back in the ancient time, perhaps dinosaur time, and taking a dive into space when I get to see glowworms everywhere … after the trip, I felt so amazing.”

Mr Young is the third generation of his family that are deaf – all his siblings, parents and grandparents are deaf; his brother also has two deaf children.
