Van back in Whangarei

We now have a new accessible van available to organisations in Whangarei wishing to support disabled people to participate in activities within their communities.

The ASB Trust has provided funding to Tiaho to purchase another much needed accessible van which is to be based in Whangarei.

Before it was moved to Kaikohe the previous accessible Tiaho van was utilised extensively by the disability sector in Whangarei to enable disabled people to attend sporting events, powhiri’s, and camps etc .

The van has already been well used over the Christmas/New Year Period by Annie Wihongi and Reg Uzzell who went to Pouto on Northland’s west coast.

Support Worker Jan Cornell said that “We wouldn’t have been able to go to Pouto or do the activities we did and have a holiday without the Tiaho van”.

Having the van meant they could tour around and see the sites including visiting the local museum and going on a four wheel drive tour on the beach which Annie said “Was pretty exciting, it was fun”.

The van provides seating for the driver, two wheelchairs and four passengers.

If you would like to use the van, contact Tiaho Trust for information about eligability and bookings.
