Raise funds for Epilepsy NZ

We are extremely excited to announce that the Epilepsy Association of New Zealand has been selected as one of six charities to be part of the Sovereign Sunshine launch on 1 May 2008.

Sovereign, New Zealand’s largest life insurer, has been giving back to the community over the years through their Sovereign Spirit programme. Due to the increasing competition for the charitable dollar and the growing number of youth-orientated charities reaching out for more support, Sovereign has made exciting developments in the way it supports New Zealand’s children’s charities.

On 1 May 2008, Sovereign will launch SOVEREIGN SUNSHINE, a whole new concept in online fundraising, aimed at giving Kiwi kids a brighter future. This new initiative will build on the achievements and goodwill of Sovereign Spirit, and give Epilepsy New Zealand an opportunity to be in touch will every New Zealander who has access to a computer.

HOW WILL IT WORK?

  • Each year, for the purposes of voting, Sovereign Sunshine will rotate through nine different groupings of New Zealand based children’s charities / not-for-profits, e.g. May 2008 – Children’s disability support, June 2008 – Children’s learning-related disorders, etc.
  • Every month, Sovereign’s staff will select a shortlist of up to six charities from each of the groupings.
  • The shortlisted charities will then be added to the Sovereign Sunshine website homepage www.sovereignsunshine.co.nz
  • Every member of the public from across New Zealand who register on the Sovereign Sunshine website will be able to vote each month for their favourite featured charity.
  • The charity receiving the most votes will receive a donation from Sovereign. (Sovereign will donate a minimum of $10,000, and match funds raised by its staff to an additional $2,500 each month, to a maximum total contribution of $15,000).
  • Voting closes on the last day of each month, and the winner announced on the first day of the following month.
