Northland MS awards

The Northland Multiple Sclerosis Society held a luncheon prior to Christmas at the Cobb & Co in Whangarei to present the Annual Awards for the Northland MS Person of the Year 2007 and Northland MS Carer of the Year 2007 to two extraordinary ladies.

Congratulations go to Carole Jeeves who was awarded the Sanofi-Aventis Plaque for the MS Person of the Year.

Carole and her whole family have been very supportive of the Northland MS Society over the years, particularly helping with fundraising ventures.  She and her husband grow export grade orchids and avocados and have donated hundreds of these for us to sell for MS. She is very good at selling raffle tickets and is generous in her donations to us.  The family have been members since before Kathy’s time, which is over thirteen years, and Carole is often in attendance at luncheons and other events put on by the Society.

Thank you so much Carole and to your family.  It was a pleasure to recognize your contribution to the Society in this way.

Sincere congratulation also go to Margaret Amir who recieved the Northland MS Carer of the Year 2007.

Margaret was Dawn Hyde’s carer for some time.  Sadly Dawn passed away before we could make this award to Margaret, but she did know about it and was so delighted that we were to recognize Margaret in this way.  Margaret would bring Dawn down to the physio group as often as Dawn could make it.  Over the past months Dawn was not able to participate in the exercises, but Margaret would lay her on a wide padded bench and manipulate and massage her limbs.
She is a wonderfully caring and patient person and was stunned to receive this award.  Some of Dawn’s family were able to be present before flying back to America and they too were delighted that Margaret was recognized for the love she showed Dawn and in the way she cared so willingly for her.

Northland Multiple Sclerosis Society would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsor Sanofi-Aventis for sponsoring the MS Person of the Year plaque.
