Money course for people with learning disabilities is a New Zealand first

A recent article on Stuff caught our eye – Money course for people with learning disabilities is a New Zealand first. This is interesting reading and may be of help for anyone interested in Individualised Funding.

During Money Week, 31st August to 6th September a new money course was launched in the South Island to help those with learning disabilities to learn about money – how to manage their money, the cost of debt, learning the difference between wants and needs.

“Generally, people with learning disabilities manage their money in a collaborative way with others, often family members.  People First’s motto is ‘Nothing about us, without us’, which catches the spirit that collaboration should happen in.”
