Making it easier to employ disabled people

The Office for Disability Issues has developed written information and tools to make it easier to employ disabled people so that you do not miss out on people who can provide a valuable contribution to your organisation.

Successful managers get the best from people by identifying what will assist employees to do the best job possible, whether the person has an impairment or not.

Information taken from the ODI website is that “45% of disabled people are employed compared with 72% of non-disabled adults.

One of the areas that people often ask about is ‘reasonable accommodation'.”

Fact sheets are now available for employers, disabled employees and potential employees to assist in answering questions you may have on ‘reasonable accommodation.’

The FAQ fact sheet has been developed to provide practical advice to Managers and Human Resource staff to ensure their recruitment process is inclusive.
