Calling all Cool Jammers!

StarJam creates opportunities for young people with disabilities to experience joy in their hearts and the belief that anything is possible whilst participating in unique kinds of performance activities, stage production and other creative pursuits.

A key element of StarJam is the CoolJam programme.  CoolJam is a programme of weekly workshops designed for young people with disabilities wanting to develop their artistic and performance talents in a welcoming, fun and supportive environment.

The CoolJam programme has recently started in Whangarei, with a weekly workshop at Blomfield Special School.  We have been delighted with the enthusiasm of Jammers attending the workshops and number of people who have contacted us wanting to get involved.

Due to demand we are now expanding the number of workshops and will be offering two workshops a week.  These will be taking place at the ASB Leisure Centre on Western Hills Drive.

We are very grateful to Blomfield Special School for their support in getting the CoolJam Programme started in Whangarei and we look forward to welcoming more young people to our CoolJam workshops.  There is also the possibility that a group of Whangarei CoolJam performers will be able to participate in the 2007 CoolJam show, which will take place at the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre in Manukau, Auckland, on the evening of Saturday 17 November.
