YES WE DID IT!!!!

The Tiaho Terror TeamThe Tiaho Terrors had a most enjoyable and successful Relay for Life on the weekend of 20/21 March.

The opening ceremony started at 1.30pm with speeches and a blessing.  A survivors lap followed this and then we were straight into it.

We walked from 2.00pm Saturday until 2.00pm Sunday.  We did it in turns, making sure we had someone walking at any given time, most times we had several people on the track at once.

Well done to all those that participated and thank you to everyone that sponsored us or brought raffle tickets etc.  All money raised in Northland stays here in Northland so it’s comforting to know our money will be helping those in our own community.

The Tiaho Terrors raised over $650.00 and had a lap count of 708.  Each lap was 400 metres so by my maths that equates to something like 283.2 km!!! Not bad when you consider we had ten full time team members and 6 or 7 casual members.

The highlights for the weekend would have to be watching Jonny on his mobility scooter running over anyone that got in his way, the candle light ceremony, breakfast and Leonard having his head shaved for the cause.

Everyone enjoyed the experience even though we all have sore, aching muscles and there was a few people looking forward to doing it again next year. We will keep you posted.

Congratulation also to Pat Nepia who won the raffle for a portrait photograph kindly donated by local photographer Ian Y Stacey

Jessica with daughter Grace, Jeni and Elinor  Valerie strides out  Elinor heads out onto the track  Jeni, Jessica with Grace take a well earned break

What a fantastic effort by the Tiaho Terrors. I am proud of my sister Gail Stacey for going the distance and wearing the grass out with her walking.
