Support Parent Organisations Information/Taster Session

If you work directly with parents who have a child with an identified need, whatever that may be, then we would like to invite you to come along and find out how we can help each other and the families we work with.

Everyone needs support at some points in their lives.  At Parent to Parent, we have found that the best support available for families coping with disability can come from others who have had similar experiences.

Our unique Support Parent training course helps hone participants’ listening skills to enable them to provide quality support to others.  The course also empowers the participants themselves by enhancing their own communication and inter-personal skills.

The Information/Taster session on 2nd December will introduce you to the Support Parent training course - how it is taught and its content.  During the programme, we will discuss the following:

  • Support Parent criteria
  • The training process
  • Support and where the Support Parent role fits
  • Parent to Parent New Zealand’s Philosophy Statement
  • Benefits of the course for parents and organisations
  • Other training available
  • The role of the regional group
  • Questions and Answers

When: Tuesday 2nd December 2008 from 10am – 12pm
Where:Parent to Parents Regional Office,150b Bank Street, Whangarei
Cost:  Free

This year, Parent to Parent celebrates 25 years of service to parents and families throughout New Zealand.  We continue to look at ways in which our organisation can work with others to help provide families with skills and support to assist them throughout their lives.

If you or a colleague is interested in attending the Information/Taster session, then please contact your local Parent to Parent regional office.
