Paihia Fun run/walk
Published May 19th 2008, Posted in National / 1 CommentYou are invited to come along and participate in the ASB Paihia fun run/walk taking place on June 8th. This year it will include an ‘ability component’ in which those with mobility challenges are welcome and encouraged to participate. This fun run/walk is one of the Sport Northland series of five taking place within Northland.
Westpac being the principal sponsor of the Halberg Trust, will cover the entry fee for those participants who experience disability. Westpac T shirts will be given out on the day to those participating.
A post event picnic for Westpac Halberg and their families will be provided. Support people for those requiring them, will be there on the day.
We look forward to your participation and hope this event will be one of many that you can enjoy.
All participants are required to fill out the official entry form (available from Sport Northland, ASB Banks or via the Sport Northland website). Please indicate your T-shirt size on the form or by contacting Kim Silvey directly. Please contact me ASAP if you plan on entering this. Official entries close May 27th.
For further information contact Kim Silvey, phone 4703220 or mobile 0274845401.

To all those who turned out to participate in this event, a big thank you and to those who acted as supporters to those participating, another big thank you! The weather proved wonderful despite forecasts of doom and gloom, and the event finished with a BBQ put on by Westpac for our ‘corporate team’ (comprising of people with disabilities and their families and suporters)...this proved to be a great success for us but a bitter disappointment for those in all the other teams who found themselves queing outside our tent in hope!
Maybe next year another team and their sponser, will get their act together and do something similar.
Looking forward to next years event and also those that will occur between now and then...ensuring all Northlanders have the opportunity to be active!

Thanks Gail and Tiaho Trust for posting this information. I do hope people from the Northland can attend. Let me know if you require transport and I’ll see what I can do. Keep smiling, Mark
