NZSL in new TV show for youngsters
Published 12 August 2011, Posted in NorthlandAn exciting new children’s television programme, which includes New Zealand sign language, started on TV2 on Monday August 1.
The programme is about a group of crazy cartoon characters travelling around New Zealand on a bus with two ‘live’ young people, Ngatarawahi Fairhall and Victoria Craig.
Ngatarawahi and Victoria are full of energy and just as much fun as their cartoon friends. They’re always on the lookout for something new and interesting as they travel to their next New Zealand town on the bus, and are full of great ideas of things to do and see on the way.
As the bus travels along, children watching Tiki Tour will see lots of interesting people, towns, and activities. They can join Ngatarawahi, Victoria and their cartoon buddies in games, stories, songs, dancing and activities, and learn interesting things about numbers, words, art, Maori culture and language, science, computers and health.
New Zealand sign language is used in each Tiki Tour programme.
So when can children see Tiki Tour on their TVs? Children all around New Zealand can watch Tiki Tour every weekday morning at a quarter past eight (8.15am) and, for children who like an early start to the day on the weekend, the programme screens on Saturday and Sunday mornings at six o’clock (6am).
Tiki Tour was made with funding of $2.38m from NZ On Air, part of a $13m investment in children’s television announced late last year.
