New ASD Parent Education Programme

Published 27 October 2009, Posted in Northland

IDEA Services logoThis programme is being run by IDEA Specialist Services to provide education to the families and whanau of pre-school children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Changes to Ministry of Health and Education contracting mean that this replaces Autism NZs Early Bird programme in the Northland region.

ASD Plus assists families and whanau to learn more about Autism Spectrum Disorder and the support strategies that will benefit the young person who has ASD as well as the rest of the family or whanau.

The programme is individualised to meet each family or whanau’s specific needs, has significant follow up to support implementation of learning at home, and can be delivered flexibly to either groups of families and whanau, individual families and whanau, or by distance learning.

Please feel free to contact Nic McKenzie, manager of the ASD Plus: Education for Families programme, if you have any queries.
