Movement Rehabilitation Programme

Published 16 March 2009, Posted in Northland Movement Rehabilitation Programme

The Ministry of Health Movement Rehabilitation Programme (previously held at the Northland Disabilities Resource Centre) is now held at its new venue, KENSINGTON FITNESS – STUDIO 2.

Studio 2 Kensington Fitness (ASB Leisure Centre), Western Hills Drive has been specifically fitted out with exercise equipment, mats, handrails and heating to help assist the people who take part in this programme.

All referrals to the Movement Rehabilitation Programme must go through NASC (Needs Assessment Service Co-ordination) which is situated in the NorthAble (Northland Disabilities Resource Centre), 40 John Street – Ph 4300988.

How can someone with a disability access the Movement Rehabilitation Programme?

Whanau, friends and associates can ring NorthAble on 09 4300988 and talk to a Needs Assessment Service Co-ordinator if they feel someone they know will benefit from attending the Movement Rehabilitation Programme.

The NASC referred client is assessed in Studio 2 by a physiotherapist to determine their means of mobility, flexibility, ways of communicating, activity level, lifestyle and goals.  An exercise plan is then established to suit the client’s needs and abilities.
