Loren’s latest
Published September 25th 2008, Posted in Northland / 1 CommentHello Everyone!
My name is Loren and I am new to working with the Tiaho Trust!
I am a teenager with a disability called Achondroplasia meaning that I am noticeably shorter than the “average” person my age.
Jonny has asked me to do a regular post on the Website which will hopefully be interesting to other teenagers with a wide range of disabilities. It will be about anything and everything.
For my first post I wanted to mention Paralymics gold medallist Cameron Leslie!
His achievement over in Beijing was mind blowing, however it was a disappointment that on one radio station it was the second to last news item read even though it was only hours after his race! This is compared to our other Olympians whose success lead bulletins for the whole day.
In positive note it was great to see that the New Zealand Herald had Cameron as their leading story for the sports section. Anyway off the issue of media and back more onto Cameron’s achievement!
These were the first Olympics for 18 year old Cameron, who secured our 12th medal of the game by setting a new world record in doing the 150 meter individual medley in only 2 minutes and 33.57 seconds. It is fantastic to see someone from Whangarei achieving at the highest level!
We can use his achievement and achievements like his to be a motivation for us to prove that anything is possible! Well done Cameron and we wish you all the best for everything in the future!
My second and last thing I want to talk about is Spork! Have you joined it yet? I certainly have and so far I have found that it is a great website that I can catch up with other people I know on it as well as check out their photos and videos! For those who have sites such as Bebo, Facebook and Myspace, Spork is very similar. However Spork is a lot easier to use and with out all the adds and spam that some of the other websites have. If you want to be a part of Spork just email and ask for an invite!
I hope to see you on there.
Have a fantastic week!
Cheers Loren,
P.S. If you have anything you want to talk to me about or got any ideas just email me at Tiaho Trust,

Thanks Gail and Tiaho Trust for posting this information. I do hope people from the Northland can attend. Let me know if you require transport and I’ll see what I can do. Keep smiling, Mark
