Tiaho Trust's International Day of People With Disabilities Celebration is on Friday 8 December in the courtyard at Forum North in Whangarei. You can check out our fabulous itinerary for this all day event here.

International Day of People with Disablities celebration programme

When: Friday  8th December 10am – 2pm 

Where: Forum North - Courtyard, 7 Rust Ave, Whangarei

Programme of the day's events

10.00am Karakia – Wiremu Kani 

Welcome by Jonny Wilkinson CEO, Tiaho Trust

Official Opening: Deputy Mayor, Sharon Morgan

MCs: Dave Wright - Promoting EXPO & IDPD and Jason Tapp - Courtyard area/Action Room

10.30am MCs annound the ongoing activities to let everyone know about the different things to do during the IDPD celebrations.These include:

  • Free -Mini jeep rides outside side entrance
  • Free Airbrush Tattoos in the Action room with artist Julia Tapp
  • Make friends with the pony from RDA
  • Circus Kumarani in courtyard
  • Pony and cart rides with Kerry form Northland Pony Parties
  • Have a look what’s happening in the Action room and in the out courtyard areas
  • Food available to buy from Kitchen area supplied by Whangarei Hatea Lions Club

Following the opening speeches, Dave will be walking around and talking to stall holders, and letting the public know the about the scheduled entertainment coming up. Jason will MC the entertainment as it unfolds.

11.00am Ming Ming Edgar (Young blind musician)

11.15am Karen Taylor from Idea Services, & Kapa Haka Group in Courtyard area

11.30am Strongbeats Dance Crew in Courtyard area

11.45am Dave will walk around the EXPO area promoting the stallholders and thank sponsors, whilst Jason covers the background music in Courtyard area

12.00pm Circus Kumarani demonstration 

12.30pm – 1pm Dave to continue to walk around the EXPO promoting the
stallholders and let visitors know about Saturday's Fashion Show at 11am

1:00pm Ngati Hine & Pacific Island dancing demonstrations

2.30pm Presentation of Ambassador Certificates by Radius Care
