Epilepsy Week - Going Lavender

Published August 19th 2008, Posted in Northland Epilepsy Week - Going Lavender

We had a great awareness week in the Mid and Far North in February so now it is the turn of the rest of Northland.

Read more to find out about what is happening during the week of 1st - 7th September to raise funds and awareness for all those whose lives are affected by epilepsy in Northland

FREE EVENTS

Training & Information Sessions
These will last two hours and will include information on what epilepsy is; who gets it; the causes and types of epilepsy; management and recording of seizures; triggers, medication and life style issues. I will also be showing a short video of real seizures occurring.

These sessions will be ideal for health workers, carers, teachers, employers or those who wish to learn about the condition. Printed support material will be available.

Lavender & Lace
These social gatherings are aimed at the over fifties. There will be fun and local entertainment over a cup of tea and a scone.

Awareness of epilepsy and its increased prevalence in the over sixties will be given in a light hearted and interesting way. Come along with your friends and join in the fun.

Visits of Lady Lavender
Lady Lavender herself will visit carrying her basket of lovely Lavender ribbons for you to wear to raise awareness of epilepsy. They carry the logo, Epilepsy – See the Person
