Epilepsy go for lavender!

Published 05 February 2008, Posted in Northland Epilepsy go for lavender!

February 11th -17th 2008 is Epilepsy Awareness Week in the Mid and Far North.

Shops across the region are “Going Lavender” for the week to help celebrate the arrival of the lavender ribbon for Epilepsy NZ.

To celebrate this week Epilepsy New Zealand Northland Branch is organizing a series of events across the Northern part of Northland.  Check out the ‘supporting document’ below for details of events.

Elaine Goldthorpe is the new Field Officer for Epilepsy Northland. She has extensive experience in special education and of a range of seizure types.

This awareness week she has decided to focus on the over fifties as she was surprised to learn in her training that the incidence of epilepsy increases greatly after the age of sixty. This was a disturbing piece of information for one who has passed fifty five!

Elaine looks forward to meeting lots of people who live with epilepsy as she travels around Northland in her new job.

Do please come to one of the events and meet her.
