Empowering Communities.
Published 03 July 2008, Posted in Northland / 1 Comment$100.000 towards fixing the location of the mobility parks at the Whangarei Aquatic Centre.
Now that’s what I call a community driven outcome.
I firmly believe that this was a result of continued lobbying from the Whangarei Disability community. The effectiveness of this public pressure was further focused through the DSRG who along with Tiaho Trust co-ordinated over 170 individual submissions to the Whangarei District Council Draft Annual Plan process.
This is a great example of what disabled communities can achieve when they work together in a cohesive manner. I would like to acknowledge Amy Burke who facilitated the collection of signatures at the Aquatic Centre.
The DSRG will be monitoring the progress of the mobility car park re-location and we will keep you updated.
