Enrolments are now open for term three of StarJam’s Rockin’ Hip Hop workshop, designed especially for young people with disabilities.

The workshop takes place at Kensington Stadium on Thursday evenings, from 6.45pm – 8.15pm.  The first workshop will take place on Thursday 31 July and the term will run for eight weeks, finishing on Thursday 18 September.

Enrolments are open to any young person with a disability, under the age of 25.

StarJam is an Auckland-based organisation that creates performance opportunities for young people with disabilities.

StarJam was founded by Julie and Roy Bartlett in November 2002.  Since then more than 400 young people have been involved in StarJam activities, including performing in major stage shows, participating in ‘Jamming’ trips to the USA and performances at conferences and events.

StarJam’s Talent Expansion Programme of weekly performance workshops started in Auckland in April 2006.  The Whangarei Rockin’ Hip Hop workshop was launched in April 2007.  A highlight of the year was in November 2007, when the Whangarei hip hop group travelled to Auckland to perform onstage at the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre in Manukau for the StarJam Show 2007.
