Andy - A Rising Star

Published 26 March 2009, Posted in Northland Andy - A Rising Star

We think Andy is a Rising Star.

Andy started writing poetry when he left school. He gets his inspiration from everyday activities and says that poetry enables him to describe the world through his eyes.

Andy is supported by IDEA Services, Whangarei who are helping him to achieve his dream of getting his poems noticed and hopefully published into a book.

Tiaho is proud to be the first to publish his poems and hope that you enjoy them, you may even know how he can get them published elsewhere. (Make a comment below)

BUCKING RED By Andrew Ashford

SHE’S a gentle and calm filly who knows her rights from wrong, fast from slows If you rub her the wrong way she will stand on her hind legs and snort heavily She is a calm and placid filly who loves to argue her point Yes she does have one or two faults but she is just like our red-headed staff member Athena, sweet and broken in bucking red.

Please download the supporting document below to read more of Andy’s great poetry.

About Andy
Andrew Ashford was born in England and came to New Zealand in 1974 with his family.

Andy attended Sunny Nook Primary School in Forest Hill, Auckland as well as Northcote & Avondale Colleges.

He moved to Whangarei in 1986 to be closer to his family who had already located to Whangarei and joined IHC around this time.

Andy worked at PLD cutting wood into links using a radial arm saw and enjoyed the work and daily camaraderie.

Andy’s interests are watching Billy T James, sport and he aims to get back running when his leg is better.

Andy has a great passion for expressing his thoughts and feelings by writing poetry and is hoping to interest a publisher in publishing his poetry some day.

He started writing poetry when he left school.  Andy gets his inspiration from everyday activities.  In a way the poems are Andy’s daily diary.

Andy wants people to know that life isn’t boring and gloomy, he says we live in a joyful world and poetry enables him to describe the world through his eyes.
