An accessible RWC in Whangarei
Published 13 September 2011, Posted in NorthlandTiaho Trust has been working closely with the Whangarei District Council and Enterprise Northland to help make RWC 2011 in Northland an event that everybody can access and enjoy.
To enable easy access to the two games in Whangarei for people with a disability, two Tiaho Trust accessible vans with wheelchair hoists will provide a shuttle service from the designated drop-off area on the new Porownini Avenue extension delivering them directly to the game. Many thanks to RWC volunteers Michael MacDonald and Scott McDonald who are helping to provide this service.

Tiaho has also been working alongside the DSRG and the WDC to publish an updated version of the ‘Access Whangarei Map’.
This map has been designed to help visitors find their way around the city, listing mobility parking spaces, accessible amenities including toilets, accommodation, conference, retail and dining options and other useful information.
It is attached to this article for download and will soon be available from Whangarei I-Sites, Tiaho Trust, Whangarei District Council and NorthAble Disability Services.
