Published June 24th 2008, Posted in NorthlandFigures show that an astounding number of people in Northland will not be involved in the electoral process because they have not notified thier Registrar of Electors that they have moved. Don’t let other people decide who forms our government for the next three years.

Our Stories – creating positive change

‘Our Stories’ is a disability awareness and education community based project sponsored by IHC and CCS Disability Action.
Tiaho recently hosted a hui run by Project Managers Pip O’Connell from IHC and Sally Thomas from CCS Disability Action. The hui was an opportunity to give the Northland community information about the project including the photographic exhibition and workshops and how disabled people in Northland can participate.
For those not able to attend the hui, Tiaho recorded an interview with Sally and Pip about the project. Available at the end of this article.

Innovative Transport Service

Tiaho Trust has established a Voluntary Transport Support Service in Kaikohe in response to a lack of accessible transport in the mid-North.
Disabled people were not able to fully participate in activities in their communities and a number of disabled school children were unable to attend school because there was no accessible transport.

Arthritis NZ Northland is hosting a workshop on Gout on Saturday 21st June at the St Johns Ambulance Hall in Kaikohe from 10 am to 12 noon.
If you want to learn all about Gout come along to hear speakers Dr Perer Gow (Gout Specialist), Victoria Harris (Maori Arthritis Educator) and Ashton Tairua (living with Gout).
