School funding crisis
Published October 08th 2008, Posted in NationalAdvocacy groups, parents, teachers and principals are concerned that children with disabilities are not being adequately supported to attend and participate fully in their local state school with some children being sent home due to a lack of teacher aid resources.
This situation is distressing for parents who want their children to attend a mainstream school and for the children who are missing out on activities that their ‘able bodied’ peers participate in.

Heavy Load rock!

A charismatic lead singer, a drummer who dreams of solo success, two guitarists and a bass player - Heavy Load are a band just like any other.
Except that they’re not. The disabled group are billed as Lewes’s answer to The Ramones.

‘tips for autism’
Published October 02nd 2008, Posted in National‘tips for autism’ will again be available throughout New Zealand in 2009.
‘tips’ is a course where up to six teams of people supporting a child with autism spend four days developing interventions and plans to support their particular child. This year (2008) there have been 13 courses to the teams around 80 children with ASD (about 500 people).

Join the team in Whangarei and support Arthritis New Zealand by taking part in this years Annual Orange Appeal. We will be marking the occasion with a National Street appeal where the funds raised will go towards providing services to people affected by Arthritis in Northland. Disappointing Paralympics coverage
Published September 16th 2008, Posted in NationalTiaho Trust has had a number of people raise the issue that the Paralympic Games are not recieving the coverage they deserve.
It is such a shame when our athletes are performing so well that we only get to hear and see them when they win medals or something extraordinary happens.
