$100K Available for NZ Charities

Movie star Paul Newman, who will be donating NZ$100,000 to New Zealand charities via the Newman’s Own Foundation in the coming months. The foundation was set up by Paul Newman and see’s all profits after tax from sales of Newman’s Own products donated to charity.

An empowering sign

It’s deaf but still independent which is why the humble butterfly has been chosen as the symbol for this year’s New Zealand Sign Language week.
The week’s aim is to bring awareness that sign language is New Zealand’s third official language and for people to recognise it as part of Kiwi culture.
Deaf Association Northland has a week of events planned in Whangarei where people can learn the language.

Free Parent to Parent training

Courses include ‘Support Parent Training’, IEP Seminar and workshops’, Support Parent Advocates’ and ‘SibSupport NZ’. Carers’ Strategy Launched Today!

Horses for Healing

Horses for Healing is a non-profit programme running in Whangarei, which utilizes the loving bond between horses and humans to assist people along their road to recovery from mental illness.
It is a one: one programme for one hour per week for 14 weeks. Many clients gain so much from the programme that they go on to do a second course.

NZ ASD Guidelines

The NZ Autism Spectrum Disorder Guidelines were officially launched in Parliament on Wednesday 4 April by Minister of Health, Mr David Cunliffe on World Autism Day
NZ is the first country in the world to publish a whole of life guideline, as well as health, education, disability, Maori and Pacific perspectives
The NZ Autism Spectrum Disorder Guideline is a joint project of the Ministries of Health and Education and is based on overseas and New Zealand evidence, experience and practice.

Have you fallen over recently or know of someone who has fallen over due to the slippery tiles in the Strand Arcade or Quality Street or anywhere else in the CBD?
Tiaho Trust has received a number of complaints about access issues especially the slippery surfaces in the CBD. On rainy days it is likened to a skating rink.
