I am the Coordinator for Parkinsons Northland and have been working here for five years. If you have been diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be able to put you in contact with a Field Officer in your area who will be able to provide support and education to you and your family. I perform all secretarial and financial duties within the Northland office including completing funding applications and organising fund raising activities. I also write, put together and send out the monthly ‘North’n Park’n’ newsletter.

Senior Field Officer
I am the senior Field Office for Parkinson’s Society Northland and have been working for them since October 2001. I come from a background of nursing and Hospice and have tertiary qualifications in rehabilitaion.
My role in the community is to provide information, education and support to people with Parkinson’s disease, their families and carers. As a Field Office I do home visits; run support groups in Kaitaia and Kerikeri; make any necessary referrals to physio’s, occupational and speech therapists etc; give advice on monitoring medication; provide educational seminars and can also provide access to our monthly newsletter, the national magazine and booklets and our book and audio visual library.
I help raise awareness of Parkinson’s Disease and work alongside G.P’s, specialists and other health professionals.
I thoroughly enjoy working with people with Parkinson’s Disease.
My area covers from Kawakawa up to Cape Reinga and all pints east and west. My office hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 am - 2 pm. You can contact me on the phone number below of my mobile 021 136 4069

Wendy Ferguson
Field Officer
Hi, I am the Field Officer for The Parkinson’s Society, Northland, supporting people with Parkinsons Disease, their carers and families from Kawakawa to Wellsford.
I am newly appointed, having started May 2008 and I consider it a privilege to be part of the Parkinsons community.
I am a Registered Nurse and have also worked in other “people orientated” positions with a health and education focus, for example vision /hearing screening for Community Health.
As a Field Officer I provide support, information and education through:
- Home visits
- Monthly support groups in Whangarei and Dargaville
- Referring clients to appropriate health professionals and support agencies, for example physiotherapists, speech therapists, Age Concern
- Providing advice and information re monitoring medication
- Providing educational seminars for groups such as professional caregivers.
- Liasing with other health professionals and raising awareness of Parkinsons Disease and the needs of clients, in the community.
My office hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9am – 5pm.
