Parent to Parent New Zealand delivers a programme, which supports the specific needs of siblings who have brothers and sisters with special needs. The aim of Parent to Parent’s SibSupportN.Z. programme is to provide children with an experience that will assist them to cope with the challenges and stresses of living with a brother or sister who has a disability. Parent to Parent Regional Co-ordinator/ASD Advisor

I am the Regional Co-ordinator for Parent to Parent.  My main role is to provide the matching of families in Northland or Nationally with other parents who have a child with similiar needs and who knows and understands from personal experience the challenges, frustrations and special joy that comes from parenting a child with special needs.

By contacting me I am able to provide information to the families who have children or family members with disabilities or special needs.  I also assist these families by linking them to other supports, contacts or networks in their local area.

I have been involved in the disability sector for many years and have a profoundly deaf daughter and a son with ADHD/Aspergers.

I am also the ASD Advisor for Northland.  My role as an advisor is to provide information and advice to people, families and professionals about Autism Spectrum Disorders.

I have access to the ASD National Office who provides clinical and evidence based information and advice through the clinical psychologist appointed to the service and a national expert team from throughout New Zealand.  I can also provide links to other local networks.

I have been involved with autism through being a teacher aide and have a son with Aspergers.
